But it is an old release, isn't it? I think the FreeBSD Ports include
GnomeMeeting 0.85 due to the required libraries (but I am not sure
because I do not use FreeBSD).

That is correct, BSDs are not just a kernel (like linux, for instance).
This solution has advantages and also disadvantages. It is a sensitive
topic which could start a flamewar, thus I think we should not start to
discuss about "linux vs. BSD" ;)
I really agree to you. I also prefer BSD, though I do not like FreeBSD -
I am using NetBSD (hey, we could start a flamewar too ;).

Especially on NetBSD because there are still some problems with some
software. Nevertheless it is also possible to use GnomeMeeting.
