It somehow rings a bell. It was when I was trying to build a dll, long time 
ago. So I am not quite shure about my answer. Also my crosscompiling computer 
is at home and cannot check at the moment which packages I have installed. I 
will look into that this evening. For the moment it somehow reminds me of the 
gdk-pixbuf stuff. I think I had to install something like that on Kubuntu.

As to your problem with the /usr/share/gnome-doc-utils/gnome-doc-utils.make.
It also rings a bell. Have you the dev package of texinfo. At some point a got 
errors because of missing makeinfo which is not available with Ubuntu. I had 
to install the texinfo instead.
