Well, I tried with the new one... I pressed many times the test button,
then while recording I went to the next (video test), and it worked
well, although the video test is always present, and doesn't seem to
stop... unless I go back and press the button again (which I think is
made on purpose, right?)
Then I did the video test and went back to sound test and it also worked
fine, going forward to video test I could see that it had been doing the
video test in the "background".

WEIRD test:

Another test I did: I unplugged the usb webcam while in the video test,
after/during "test 1", and I got a seg fault... of course the kernel
also complained about my stupidity, here is a tail of dmseg's output:
