I can't check this for the 365 account (I have no other application
that can connect to office 365), but it stands to reason that the same
underlying problem is at work.

Evolution is a graphical application, and Evolution Data Server is a
bunch of backend services and libraries that implement the actual
calendaring protocols and such.

(It's a bit more complicated than this, but those details don't matter.)

The Evolution Data Server backend is also used by the GNOME Calendar
application and the calendar in GNOME Shell's top bar.
