Re: [gnome-women] Evolution people here?

Hi Olha,

You can learn more about contributing to Evolution from the project's wiki page:
https://live.gnome.org/Evolution

To communicate with other Evolution developers, you should join Evolution mailing list https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-hackers and start hanging out on #evolution IRC channel on irc.gnome.org . See https://live.gnome.org/GnomeIrcChannels for the explanation about the use of IRC in the GNOME community.

To learn about the latest developments in Evolution you can look through the commit history of the project, as well as the blog of Matt Barnes, who is the maintainer of the project.

http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution
http://mbarnes.livejournal.com

You can then look through the latest bugs filed for Evolution and find some bug marked with the "gnome-love" keyword that you would like to work on. You can also ask Matt if you would like to double check what bug to work on or need help with the code. He is mbarnes on IRC.

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/browse.cgi?product=Evolution
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=keywords%3Agnome-love+product%3A%22Evolution%22+

To work on the code for Evolution, you will need to build three modules relevant for it - gtkhtml, evolution-data-server, and evolution - with JHBuild. You can find information about JHBuild here: https://live.gnome.org/GnomeLove/JHBuildIntroduction . You will need to install many missing "-devel" packages manually when you do that, so to speed things up, you can run the script for installing gnome-shell JHBuild instead as described in the first step on https://live.gnome.org/GnomeShell#Building . Then, instead of running "jhbuild build" which would build roughly ~90 modules that are part of the gnome-shell build, just do "jhbuild buildone gtkhtml evolution-data-server evolution".

If you run into any problems with this, you can ask for help on the #evolution IRC channel or the mailing list.

Hope this helps!
Marina
