Re: Replacing Squishdot

Great Tomas,
First of all, do you have all the accesses you need on the servers to
get this done?

Secondly, we need either to be able to migrate the old items or at least
make it available in some way. (I would think that exporting every story
in Squishdot into a static html page might be possible, I'll contact the
Squishdot people for some info on that.)

Last of all we need to agree upon a set of functionality for the new
setup (not losing anything(much) is a prereq.

The needs I see is:
a) An account setup which preferably intergrates with the account setup
for the software map. This is both to disencourage trolls, but mostly to
make sure we don't have fake posts from well known people. (like the
Miguel post the other day under the summary story.)

b) A moderation system for pre-approving posts. (Could be we don't need
it if trolls get discouraged by the account system.)

c) Time controlled posting. We need to be able to approve a story and
set it to be published at a later time. (Important in order to time
press releases etc.)

d) Working sidebars. The current setup of sidebars is nice but having a
working integrated events calendar would be nice. Also moving birthdays
out of the main story page and onto a sidebar would probably be a good
idea.

e) Other things?

Tomas how those these items fit with your system? Also if implementing
some of these things takes a long time then maybe implementing the rest
first is a good idea and then adding the other stuff over time.

Also jdub offered to help on IRC today.
