To me, it's not really given that there are going to be a lot of different
sites, as such. There might, of course. But we shouldn't exclude the
possibility that all gnome sites (probably not the GTK site, though) merge
onto one server, and the old server names become redirects to this one
server. This is an organizational issue, of course, and good navigation can
make this sort of distinction somewhat irrelevant, but it's still worth
thinking about.

We did that sort of thing on the previous www.gnome.org design, although
probably not as thoroughly as we should have. Basically, this resulted in the
first part of the navigation menu, the "task-oriented navigation", where
people could choose between some common tasks they were likely to want to
perform on the site.
User and task analysis is pretty essential from the usability end of things.
I think I'll start a thread with some suggestions for user types and tasks,
for us to add to.
