In general I agree with the idea of a common "dialog" for all progress
bars, but doing it at the gvfs level is *far* to lowlevel. When reading
a directory in nautilus there will be thousands of requests for various
data. Anything that will be shown in a UI will have to be op-in from the
application side so that only "user initiated" operations show up, and
so that we can get decent strings and progress reporting for the
operations.
