The public API for apps is all there already. All that is needed is an
API for plugging in modules that handle detection of mountable objects
being inserted/removed. Coming up with something for this shouldn't be
too hard. I'd recommend reading the gnome vfs volume handling code and
the current gnome-vfs module system for inspiration.
