Hey Glenn,
well for these bug reports where you have only very few information,
you have to make the best of what you have. For the bug you mention I
just checked the bug title "PDF viewer" and assumed the bug reporter
has a problem with gpdf. Then I used a standard answer from

http://developer.gnome.org/projects/bugsquad/triage/stock-responses.html

and added myself as a CC, so that when the reporter adds more
information I will know right away, and possibly reassign it once
more.
Anyway, don't be afraid of using your "best guess" -- the bug can
always be re-assigned later when more info is available, and if no
info is added (eg if you find this bug again and the reporter has not
answered in one month) you should close it.
Most of the time you won't get any more info from the reporter anyway :-) 

By the way, I triaged this bug before reading your email, so I'm sorry
if you wanted to work on it -- I'll leave the next bugs alone so you
can have fun with them ;-)

If you have anymore questions please just ask. I've done a fair bit of
triaging so I think I begin to know my way around ;)
