e-d-s calendar optimization, week II

Sorry for  being late...

Last week I have been examining e-d-s under debugger, most interesting findings
are already on my blog. I was discussing results with Federico, and yesterday
I have (finally) started implementation of interval tree, which should
increase performance.

I have to think about the implementation issues yet, but I can't wait
to start coding...
