F-Spot sidebar improvements: Week 5 Report

Hi all!

[ For information about my GSoC project, fast-forward to the bottom ]

Running at full speed now. Going from the UI mockup, four of the editors
have now been ported to the sidebar. All of this in a very clean
architecture. I spend a very large portion of time refactoring, figuring
out how to do it right and cleaning up, to avoid quick hacks.

As a result of that, this weekly report is delayed by a day. I was
planning on putting it up yesterday, along with the weblog post [1] but
things got side tracked by a rather complex performance issue.

In the process, I worked on a rather large patch to fix one of F-Spot's
oldest bugs: the constant reloading of images while tagging [2]. Once
reviewed by my mentor (and approved), it should be much nicer to use
F-Spot.

For the rest of this week, I'm planning on continuing the work on the
sidebar and packing my bags for GUADEC as well as taking care of some
stuff that needs to be done before leaving to Turkey.

Cheers,
   Ruben
