the 3.x series is perfectly fine. The main problem that people have is a
wrongly configured D-Bus setup. All major distributions are good in this
regard and actually shipping bluez-utils-3.x since quite some time.
Starting with bluez-utils-3.11, you have an input service that is fully
D-Bus aware and replaces hidd.
