I'd love having "smart windows" positioning (as called by KDE and 
Compiz; it basically tries to maximise the space used by new windows, 
instead of stacking the newest just below the decorations of the 
previous opened one). However, I kind of remember that devs were against 
it some times ago. Is "no smart positioning" still the official position?

Using two monitors myself, I think that the current behaviour of a new 
window is to usually spawn on the monitor hosting the mouse pointer. 
I'll check this pattern tomorrow, when I get back to office.
