You need the file:
/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gnome.shell.gschema.xml

If you have it, run something like:
/usr/bin/glib-compile-schemas --allow-any-name /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/

This should all be handled by your distribution.
