Hi,

in case someone is reading this thread weeks or months after the
initial post, I'd like to comment I've just announced in
gnome-announce-list the first release of DesktopFolders, an
implementation of the FolderView concept. It's written in vala as an
independent application, not a gnome-shell extension. Just for the
record.
