Re: Workspaces slowing me down.

I'm a fan of a grid layout, too. I've using this method for organization for probably 15+ years, starting back with fvwm (always been 3x3 for me). Having the workspace in my tray or panel or whatever was a nice reminder of where my windows were. I'm getting used to dynamic workspaces (I'm willing to change), but feel more comfortable with the grid, mostly out of habit. For me, the greatest thing about OSS is the freedom of choice. I don't mind being given something new to try. Sometimes, I even like the new thing better, but I would like to have the choice to revert to something else if I so desire. I've really been liking gnome3 so far, and love most everything about gnome-shell. Dynamic workspaces is one thing I'm still having to adjust to.

Well using the short cut keys for Desktop 1-9 is rather useless. You
close mail for what every reason and there's no way to put mail back on
Workspace 2, without putting it on WS 2 then moving all other windows in
WS2 to WS3. WS3 windows to WS4... etc to WS8 windows to WS9.

With dynamic workspaces there's no easy way to organize yourself.

Personally I think we need an option to turn off the dynamic workspaces
and make it a grid. (I think dynamic workspaces work for most users
out there... it's just us few who reply on workspaces as a method of
organization who are in pain... )

Guess I'll just have to wait for someone to action

Thanks for the input.
