and i am also wondering why there is no closing X on most of these, cause a lot of applications dont close these windows by pressing certain buttons in them (e.g. xchat network list) you then have to press Escape to close the window!

Is it gnome-shell or GTK+ that has changed the modal dialogs, such as save dialogs, such that the window is without titlebar and centered over the top of the parent window? My feedback on this is that being able to drag the window to a new location on top of the parent so that you can see parts of underlying window has some advantages. Just curious why this has changed to a fixed location and if it's still open to change.
