What i meant is that any application i run when using gnome-shell runs quite slowly , the calendar pop-up works , but in general the graphics for each application does not render properly. My pc specs are as follows:-

AMD hex core processor 3.2GHz

4gb DDR3 Ram

ATI HD4290 graphics card

libcanberra is the library providing event sounds (like the "Ding") in gnome.

System specs would help, as well as something more specific than "the
animations". Try the calendar popup at the top: does that work
smoothly?
