The slow machine? No... we deleted the libcanberra module because it
was broken when GTK+'s API changed.
libcanberra is the library providing event sounds (like the "Ding") in gnome.
System specs would help, as well as something more specific than "the
animations". Try the calendar popup at the top: does that work
smoothly?
