I disagree - there may be some very specific cases where it's OK to have the colors hard coded (e.g. the darkening effect when opening the run dialog with alt-f2), but in general we do want those left-over bits of code to be rewritten to use CSS :) Note that especially in the case of the search entry, there will be more benefits[1] than the ability to adjust the colors from CSS ...
