Rather than just copying off Windows 7, why not come up with something
else?
How about there are two (or more) windows. Clicking (dragging?) on the
side of one window makes it instantly scale to the next window, or if
no window is present, the edge of the screen. This way a user could
easily have 3 or more documents side by side, or even do 2 but tiled
vertically.
I agree that there should be a better way than how Windows 7 does it,
and I kind of like your idea, but it seems to me that the edge of the
window might be kind of a small target for grabbing as we would want it
to be easy to do quickly.
