Quest for Treo 650

Hi

I've been trying to get my Treo 650 syncing with evolution for hours and
hours now. I would greatly appreciate any advice anybody has.

My system:
Linux version 2.6.9-gentoo-r14
Gentoo on an amd64
pilot-link 0.11.8
gnome-pilot and ...conduits 2.0.12

I put the Treo 650 in /usr/share/gnome-pilot/devices.xml - replacing
another device with the same (???) ID:
 <!-- PalmOne Treo 650 -->
 <device vendor_id="0830" product_id="0061" />

I first tried USB with the visio driver. The Treo shows up in usbview
when connecting (i.e. trying hotsync from Treo), but that's it.
pilot-xfer won't find it (udev creates /dev/ttsUSB1 and 2, permissions
correct). That might be due to bugs in the PalmOS (same as T5 I think).
I got stuck there and gave up.

Then bluetooth. I got to the point of having a sync with pilot-xfer,
jpilot and kpilot. But no luck with gnome-pilot. I read that there is a
netsync patch in existence. But I also read (in another post on this
list) that it probably breaks bluetooth syncing in favor of "real"
network syncing. By lots of reading, trial and error, hand editing
switched with capplet action and there trick-copy-pasting I got together
a gpilotd config that seems to be close to what it should be, but does
not work anyway. Here it goes:

[General]
sync_PC_Id=-624258559
progress_stepping=1
num_devices=1
num_pilots=1

[Device0]
type=4
name=OrgelNet
ip=192.168.2.1
host=lambs
netmask=255.255.255.0
speed=115200
timeout=100

[Pilot0]
name=Treo 650
pilotid=2222
creation=0
romversion=0
pilotusername=schrotie
basedir=/home/schrotie/Treo

Well. I'm out of ideas and ressources. I'd be happy for help on any
route, USB or bluetooth.
