	Which Treo?

Why not use the released 0.1.71? Works fine here over USB.

just checked with 0.1.71, same thing happens

It works here, and I know it works for at least a few hundred other
people. Is the problem specific to your kernel (which should be 2.4.20 or
later)? Which device are you sync'ing to? Have you built gnome-pilot

no, no, no. the treo *wants* serial protocol. gpilotd set to USB does net sync, which is fine for Palm usb but the treo usb port is just the serial
port converted. in fact, you say "synch on usb or serial" and the thing
figures out which is connected.

with 0.1.71 if i setup gpilotd for /dev/ttyUSB1 and USB i get:

(gdb) bt
#0 0x4207bde5 in memmove () from /lib/i686/libc.so.6
#1 0x40675428 in net_rx () from /usr/lib/libpisock.so.8
#2 0x40674eec in net_rx_handshake () from /usr/lib/libpisock.so.8
#3 0x0002080a in ?? ()
Cannot access memory at address 0x15804067

this is with pilot-link-0.11.7

however, if I change gpilotd.c:134 to PI_PF_PADP it JustWorks.

So i figure Treos (180, 270 at least) need a "Serial USB" option. --
