I'm getting the following error from make.

Here's what I did.
1. I installed Evolution 1.0.8 using Ximian Red Carpet, which installed
pilot-link 0.9.5 or some old version to /opt/gnome/bin.
2. I installed pilot-link 0.11.4 to /opt/gnome/bin to update what Red
Carpet did.
3. I tried to install gnome-pilot 0.1.66 to /opt/gnome/bin, but make
failed. I tried configure two ways, using the ideas from this message
thread.
3.1. First, I tried make after the following configure
./configure --prefix=/opt/gnome --enable-usb --with-pisock=/opt/gnome
3.2. Second, I used configure without the pisock specified
./configure --prefix=/opt/gnome --enable-usb
and then used the Perl command supplied by jruscio.
Both times, configure succeeded and make failed with the same error.
I appreciate your help!
