ERRORS
ENOMEM Insufficient space to allocate new environment.
Yah, thats odd, since I interpret the above as meaning that putenv does
some allocating. Well bullocks to that, I'll change rate_buf to be a
static gchar *, no leaks, no free, no fuzz.
