It's Me Again..
I sucessfully finished compiling Gnome 2.5.91 using the
GARNOME system.
Experience : Same as JHbuild. But More Eventful
Rants:
Dependency are quite well handled.. I had to intervene for 2 times.
1-libstartup-notification.pc
2-mozilla-gtkembed.pc
After completion of build, (I built into /opt/garnome26)
I used the GARNOME supplied suggested start-up file, changing
$HOME to /opt/garnome26 and added an entry in
/etc/X11/dm/Session/garnome.desktop
I logged into a new garnome Gnome2.5.91.
The Splash screen is nice.. Reminds me of the DISCO era..
(wow.. I feel Gooood... (James brown in the background..
or is that jackie Chan in Tuxedo??))
Anyway, to more pressing things..
GARNOME still is problematic. With JHbuild, at least when I click on
the (my)computer, I can see icons. With garnome, the icons are
not registered and neither are the "Browse filesystem" works.
I'm not very sure what is happening..
In total.. Garnome built is more screwed than jhbuild..!!! BAH!
There goes my venture into building stuffs like these..
I guess If I really want to get gnome2.6 I have a couple of choices
1. Wait for FC2
2. Upgrade to FC1
3. Wait for gnome 2.6 release & Rpms (but will have to do #1 or #2)
BAH BAH BAH!!! (in voice of Garnome's GAR GAR GAR!!!)
BTW, Garnome installation went smooth. Not much kinks like jhbuild..
BUT, still does't work... :(
Cheers, .^.
