A virtual server, is something like running another distro, on another
ip on the same machine, chrooted. It can be complete (~150Mb for
FreeBSD) with sources everything, or it can be minimal.

Not sure how to set it up on Linux. Google for "linux jail" or a howto
on linux virtual server.
