OK, frankly, this is my opinion on the matter:

The mixing doesnt add much complexity to the API really .. and I don't
think it's much slower either..

Especially if MonkeyMedia is going to have audiocd support (also the
non-cdda one), it would be just stupid to dup taht code across different
apps... and we're not even talking about the duplication of the video
widget code yet.

Sure, I do understand you don't want any dependencies on top of
gstreamer, but IMHO if the app is going to be in the core the first
target should be users, not developers and technical excellence.
For example when metadata is trivial to add, I think it would be well
worth it since it enhances the app's usability a *lot*.

I don't care which one of gstplay and mm we choose, as long as it's just
one instead of two. If there's anything wrong on MM, please tell me, so
I can fix it. Or we could team up and make a kickass gstplay complete
with everything.

Anyway I will stop hammering on this, I'll take care of the rhythmbox
bit ;)
