I have a need to run some xwindows applications on a linux box at my corporate home office. I work remotely.
vnc works, but you will find it painfully slow. It's OK for emergency
admin, but not for heavy use.
You need to use nx (or freenx) to get a usable remote gui over adsl or
cable. Once configured properly, nx is wonderful!
In my experience, the commercial nx software has been easier to get up
and running than freenx. ymmv.
