Check out the page http://live.gnome.org/JhbuildDependencies , there's
the list of the packages that are required to compile GNOME, for a good
amount of distros. What is needed is the name of the packages, that may
change acording to the distro, which is given by this page.
After that, if one doesn't know how to install a package on its own
distribution, I think he won't be able to use jhbuild...
Maybe describing "how to know in which package is file foo" may be a
good idea... What could be done also is instead of just giving the
dependencies on http://live.gnome.org/JhbuildDependencies , also set a
shell script that will install all those dependencies, for each distro...
My 2 cents...

So, it sounds like you didn't install any of the development libraries
on your distro (in particular, libglade, known as 'libglade2-dev' on
my system). I guess I could try to add instructions for this
somewhere, but it's different for every distro and so I just assumed
people would install the development libraries themselves. Thanks for
pointing out that I need to at least mention this.
We can create a live.gnome.org page explaining how to install
development packages in every distro, don't?
I'll start one tonight, but only with the Debian instructions (am not
familiar with other distros), and I'll send the link to this list so we
can complete it.
GNOME love, love, love
Claudio
