[gnome-love] Some bugs with GTK and themes

Hi gnome-love.

I've found some bugs that I would like to report, but
I don't know which component to file them under.
Perhaps someone here might be able to tell me?
I'm seeing these on my Ubuntu Breezy system, gnome
2.12.1.

1. Apps run through gksudo use a fallback GTK theme if
my user preference is a theme in my home folder.

This one is hard to explain.
If the above summary makes no sense, these are the
steps to reproduce:
- run Synaptic from the GNOME menu (or any other app
that requires your password)
- run a regular app, such as gedit
- position both windows so you can see them
- run Theme preferences
- in Theme Details, change the controls theme. By
default, Ubuntu comes with a number of themes, eg
Human and Clearlooks. Notice that controls in all
windows change (but slowly... why is that, by the
way?)
- now you need a theme in your home directory. You can
download and install one, or do: cp -r
/usr/share/themes/Human ~/.themes/BugTest
- back in Theme Details, change the controls theme to
BugTest
- notice that gedit and synaptic are now different.
gedit has the chosen theme, but Synaptic has something
different which appears to be Raleigh.

Whether this is a bug or not got a lot of debate on
the Ubuntu forum, but I believe that it is. Synaptic's
theme reflects my preference for themes installed in
/usr/share/themes/, so logically it should do the same
for a theme in ~/.themes/

2. Dragged-off toolbars can't be moved.
I run gedit, then tear off the toolbar.
After doing this, I am unable to move the toolbar with
the widget on the left of it.
The toolbar also gets a button in the window panel,
which I don't think should happen. Closing this from
the panel, then unchecking the 'Show toolbar' checkbox
in gedit's menu crashes the app.

Other apps with detachable toolbars show similar
problems:
- Synaptic shows no buttons on the detached toolbar,
but it can be moved
- gthumb shows no buttons on the detached toolbar. it
can't be moved, and the app can be crashed the same
way as gedit.

3. Strange menu icon size glitch
The first time I use the gnome main menu after
booting, there is a tiny glitch in the display of the
icons.
They are displayed, and then about 1-2 seconds later
their size is reduced by a small amount, maybe only a
pixel. It's minor but a bit strange.

thanks for any help :)

Joachim

PS I filed this:

does anyone know who could do something about it?
