[gnome-love] Gnome Sound Deamon

Hi list,

My sound works, I can use mpg123 or anything else to play music, and it
plays fine, I can use the gnome volumn controller to control the volumn.

But, if I start the Sound Server from Gnome, using the gnome control
center, Gnome does not boot...  Normally my Gnome Desktop works, just not
with the sound server.

I can not play sounds with esdplay either.

Stats:
Linux Kernel 2.4.18
VIA codec sound drivers
Debian potato
Gnome 1.4 (from red-carpet)

Any ideas of how to fix this?

I even compiled the latest esound-2.8 - installed with prefix /usr so it
would over write the old version..
