Same here :(

But I simply have no time to do it... even though it is not such a big
task.

Actually, I am willing to give maintainership of GtkGLArea to someone who
has more time. Ideally the person should have some expericence of OpenGL
and access to win32 development tools so he/she can also maintain win32
port of GtkGLArea.
