Hello,
I am interested in helping to make Gnome accessible to people using
refreshable Braille displays. What kind of work needs to be done, and whom
should I contact? I have lots of expertise in C.

You probably need to talk to some of the sun people. billh and calum I
think. They are often on irc. I am sure someone more useful than me
can give you their e-mail addresses.
Check out the GNOME Accessibility Project web pages at
http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gap/ if you haven't done so. They are
nicely done and an interesting read. There is a page on how to get
involved too, at http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gap/contrib.html .
This page gives the email address for Bill Haneman who, I believe, is the
main accessibility guru and contact person for the Accessibility project.
