Dear All,

I admit that I haven't looked very hard, but could anyone tell me if there is
a visual reports package around for MySQL and/or postgresql? If not, does
anyone mind if I do one?

in GNOME-DB (http://www.gnome-db.org) we've got a report engine / UI
frontend in development (well, the UI is just in our minds, no code at
all :). So, if you want to help us on it, we'd appreciate it.

Our idea for the UI was something along the lines of Visual Reports, so
we agree on that front. For the database access, of course, we are using
libgda (GNOME-DB's data access lib, which supports several DBMS), and
for the report engine, we are developing a distributed CORBA server with
nice stuff such as a report cache, conversion to different formats, etc.

We've chosen a XML-based file format for the report definition, and, via
XSLT, make the conversion from that XML-based file format (which is
executed and filled with data by the report engine) to different
formats.

If you're interested on helping in gnome-db, we'll buy you some (free)
beer :-) so, just drop me a line.

Only one thing to note, which is that this development is all targetted
to GNOME 2, no GNOME 1.x at all.

cheers
