That definitely does look like a regression and should probably be reported to the Bugzilla page for the Brazilian Portuguese Translation Team:  http://l10n.gnome.org/teams/pt_BR

As for which Debian package to blame, my best guess would either be brdesktop-config-gnome or brdesktop-gnome, but it doesn't look like those packages have been updated for a couple of months; the Debian package search didn't turn anything up for lenny-backports, though the package maintainers might be able to help in determining which one it was.
