GtkEntry background color

Hi,

I'm developing a learning application. Users have to write their
answers in some GtkEntry. I would like to set background to 'red' when
these answers be incorrect.

I have used  gtk_widget_modify_bg witdh GTK_STATE_NORMAL as parameter,
but the result isn't the expected.

Can you give some tip?
