Different icons in each workspace desktop

The good thing with the virtual desktops is that they let you organize
the applications displayed according to the particular task you are
actually managing.

Is it possible in Gnome to display on the background of each different
virtual desktop a different set of icons?

That is, is it possible in Gnome to choose for each virtual desktop a
different dir to display in the desktop background containing files
related to the particular task the desktop is dedicated?
