If I just hit close everything seems to work o.k. Message suggests if I
report to run following commands:
xprop -root |grep xkb
It returns nothing
gconftool-2 -R/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb
which returns: Error on option
-R/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/xkb: unknown option.
Suggestions?

Hi Stephen,
I keep getting this error message since the day i removed all selected
keyboard layouts from Applications\Desktop preferences\Keyboard
in order to have Gnome *not* overwrite the keyboard layout defined in
xorg.conf.
The error seems harmless so i have never bothered filing a bug report
about it. It disappears as soon as i select a keyboard layout.
HTH,
Heinrich
