Remember that GNOME 2.3 is the unstable developer-version, while 2.2 is
the stable version. 2.3 is NOT meant for everyday use, but only for
developers and testers! Because it's labelled 'unstable', you can expect
that one day an 'updated' package breaks things you use on a day-to-day
basis.

So you'll better discuss this problem in gnome bugzilla or a
developers/testers-mailinglist.
