.gnomerc / xprop question

Hi all,

In order to get rid of the warning messages printed by
java graphical applications, I have a line like this
in my .gnomerc:

    xprop -root -remove _MOTIF_DEFAULT_BINDINGS

however, this seems to working intermittently, calling
xprop twice seems to solve the problem, can anybody
explain why? Timing problem? Work around?
