gnome-print-0.31 compilation problems

I'm running RH 6.1, trying to compile the latest gnumeric.  I 
have now reached
the point that it wants gnome-print >= 0.29, so I went and got 
0.31.  After
the usual fiddling with library search paths, etc., I got it to 
configure
and started the make.  Make died as follows:

gf-fontmap.c: In function `gf_fm_load_fonts_2_0':
gf-fontmap.c:291: structure has no member named `xmlChildrenNode'
gf-fontmap.c:287: warning: `child' might be used uninitialized

gf-fontmap.c:338: structure has no member named `xmlChildrenNode'
gf-fontmap.c:312: warning: `child' might be used uninitialized 
in this function

s/gnome-print-0.31/installer'

The problem seems to be in line 338 of gf-fontmap.c.  Has anyone 
else run into
this problem, and what's the right fix, please?  

I have libxml-1.8.16, which is the one gnumeric says it needs, 
rather than a
newer version.  Or do I need the newer version for 
gnome-print-0.31?
