Follow up, on 'looking for ways to speed up gnome'

Just wanted to thank everyone who helped in this little problem. I followed 
the advice offered, and looked though the list for more advice. It's helped. 
Not a huge amount, but it's useable now. Especially the control center. It's 
much faster now, I think changing the 'keep menus in memory' helped a lot.

Thanks! I'll be responding via e-mail to others. I'll be back when/if I have 
problems again with Gnome.
