Check your ~/.gnome/session file. Each program entry includes a line for
'CurrentDirectory'. One or more of them is probably set to ~/.gnome.
Make a backup copy, then edit ~/.gnome/session appropriately.
Telsa, if this one isn't yet in the FAQ, perhaps you could add it?
