You didn't mention the version of gdm you are using. Our systems use 2.0beta4
with all of the Red Hat-specific patches adapted from 2.0beta2 and none have
had gdm crash since I produced the RPM some 15 months ago. [I wish the same
could be said about XFree86 4.x, which once crashed on me 20 times in one day
when I was attempting to hack around design flaws in the GtkCombo widget.]
