ftp server access

Ther last time I tried to accessthe gnome ftp server I was refused access.
It stated that my IP address and my e-mail address did not match so
refused connection
I am on an ADSL link with a an e-mail address off hosted web space so
obviously my e-mail address will not match.
Is there any way round this
