GNOME crashes for one account

Just today, GNOME crashed for one of my user accounts.  I've tried
several times to bring it back up without success.  There were some
symptoms over the last several weeks.  On my Linux box, I boot into
runlevel 3.  When executing, 'startx' for this account the Xserver would
begin, crash and return to the command line.  If I tried to start
GNOME a second or third time, it would start.  Well, now it won't start
at all.  What has happened?   I can start KDE within this account so it
isn't the Xserver.  It acts like it is something with my GNOME
configuration.
  Other accounts are able to start GNOME without any trouble.
