Look at README in source, it points to (somewhat outdated) original
proposal of gnome-print.
You can also get FAQ proposal from gnome-print mailing list archive.

Feel free to subscribe to gnome-print list
http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/gnome-print
and ask. Asking has the nice side-effect of letting developers
know, which problems should be covered in (near future) FAQ and
(future) tutorial ;) The list is quite low-traffic, so it should not
litter your mailbox.
