This is the gnome-logout box? And in some situations it asks
whether you want to reboot/shut down/etc stuff as well as "logout"?
I believe that's handled by pam (pluggable authentication module).
It works on plain RH. I can't remember whether it works on Debian.
It went away when I put Ximian on both.
